Miranda Kerr is an Australian supermodel who was born February 20, 1983 and is currently based in New York City. Miranda has been modeling since the age of 13. Kerr is best known for being selected as one of the main "faces" of Maybelline cosmetics, and in 2006 she was selected to represent Victoria's Secret as an Angel. In May 2007, she is the featured model in the Victoria's Secret "Angels Wireless" commercial, where she recites a limerick and wears animated wings.
Early life and career
Kerr was born in Sydney Australia on February 20, 1983 and raised in the Australian rural town of Gunnedah near Brisbane. Kerr's mother's name is Therese, and Miranda has a younger brother named Matthew. Kerr first began modeling at the age of 13 in 1997, after winning the Dolly/Impulse Modeling Competition in Australian. Local media consistenlty used her youth as an opportunity to fiercely debate about pedophilia and the accepted age that girls should start working in the modeling industry, but Miranda kept on working frequently, appearing very often in magazines such as Harper's Bazaar, ELLE, and Vogue.
Modeling career
Her fame continued to increase when she was chosen as one of the faces to promote the cosmetics behemouth, Maybelline. and was personally selected as the new face of American iconic fashion brand ARDEN B. Kerr is also best known in Australia for her provacative commercial for Portmans, a Women fashion Australian Brand. Kerr has appeared in the commercials for two years now in Australia.
In the second season of Project Runway, Kerr was chosen to model for Daniel Vosovic at Fashion Week.
In 2006, Kerr made her out coming as an “Angel” debut. Kerr was the first ever Australian model to appear in a Victoria's Secret show. She is of a select few as one of Victoria’s Secret’s newest “Angels”.
Kerr’s continual success in 2007 seems unfettered by the pressures of the fashion industry. Her almost non-stop modeling jobs and endorsements were furthered when American fashion brand ARDEN B. purposefully placed Kerr as the new face of the company. After appearing in their spring and summer ad campaigns, Kerr returned to the brand of Arden B for their fall 2007 campaign shot by Diego Uchitel, world renowned fashion photographer. Known for her easy going demeanor on the modeling set, Kerr’s love of spontaneity and lack of attitude shines in the photos from their “As The Night Falls” campaign. Consistently stated as being down-to-earth, despite her immense fame. Miranda calls her mother every day when she is overseas away from Australia. She currently owns a Yorkshire Terrier puppy named Frankie.
Personal life
In early 2007, Miranda was romantically linked to Hollywood star Orlando Bloom, but this was uncovered as a publicity stunt set up by some New York real estate developers. The same group of developers had also offered celebrities including Lindsay Lohan free use of their apartments, in order to generate some attention towards their project.
Her ex-boyfriend in Australia Adrian Camilleri recently hit the Australian headlines infamously after pleading guilty to five counts of fraud. Adrian faces up to five years in jail and the evidence is strong against him. According to an Australian news site, friends of Miranda state that she lost some of her own personal million-dollar earnings due to Adrian's bad and selfish financial advice throughout the 18 months that she dated him.
Kerr is currently dating Brent Tuhtan, an Australian musician and model, who recently landed an international Diesel Jeans campaign and is in a band called Tamarama. The couple live together in Kerr's $1 million dollar New York City uptown high end apartment.
