She is of Italian and Filipino descent. Before to posing for Playboy, Raquel was a member of the USA "National Bikini Team" and the Fireball Models. Raquel was the second member of the National Bikini Team member to pose for Playboy in the year 2005; the first to pose for Playboy was Jamie Westenhiser.
Raquel appeared in the second episode of the hit E! network television show The Girls Next Door. This reality television program chronicles the lives of Hugh Hefner's multiple girlfriends living at the Playboy Mansion. The episode aired in August of 2005 and she was shown auditioning and meeting other Playmates. Raquel's test shoot was taken at the famous Playboy Studio West and her playmate pictorial eventually appeared in the Playboy's November 2005 issue.
Coincidentally, this issue was same issue featuring the pictorial of Hefner's girlfriends. Raquel's elder sister, C.J. Gibson, is also a model and member of The Fireball Models with Raquel. The two often appear in print together as "The Gibson Sisters".
